Bangladeshi PM Begins Official Six-Day Visit to Thailand

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to arrive in Thailand today (Apr 24) for a six-day official visit, her first since 2002, at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin. The visit is expected to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, tourism, and development.

During her stay, which extends until Monday (Apr 29), Hasina and her Thai counterpart will oversee the signing of various agreements and memoranda of understanding.

Srettha is scheduled to host a luncheon at Government House for Hasina and her delegation to discuss and potentially agree on future collaborative projects, focusing on the initiation of free trade agreement talks between Thailand and Bangladesh.

During the visit, Hasina is expected to attend the 80th session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and a bilateral meeting with ESCAP’s Executive Secretary Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana.

Prime Minister Hasina’s previous visit to Thailand took place in 2013 for the 2nd Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Chiang Mai.
