September 9, 2023, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Srettha Thavisin was reported on a devastating earthquake in Morocco, with the epicenter being in the High Atlas Mountains, 71km south-west of Marrakesh, killing at least 632 and injured 329 people.

The Prime Minister expressed profound condolences to Morocco and its people over the disaster, and affirmed the Thai Government’s readiness to provide assistance as needed. He also ordered Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately assist Thai citizens living in the quake-hit area and vicinity, and keep updated him on the situation.
