The Prime Minister, on 27 February 2017, presided over the ceremonial placement of the main pillar of the royal crematorium to be used in the royal cremation ceremony of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, at SanamLuang.
The Fine Arts Department had been given the auspicious time and date to hold the ceremonial placement of the main pillar of the royal crematorium, which began at 10:01 a.m. and concluded at 10:54 a.m. on 27 February. The process involved Brahmin monks performing ancient rituals and the Bureau of the Royal Household seeking blessings for the construction of the structure. Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha chaired the proceedings alongside members of the royal cremation ceremony’s organization committee.
After the ceremony, Fine Arts Department Director General Anan Shooshod reported an update on progress of the work to the Prime Minister and tookthe committee on a tour of the construction grounds, which comprise a variety of structures that will be used to mark the royal cremation and make it befitting the Kingdom’s revered monarch.
