Loi Krathong Festival 2012

Date: 24-28 November 2012. Loi Krathong is one of the best-preserved traditions and most beautiful festivals celebrated in Thailand, illustrating the close relationship between the Thai way of life and water. On the night of the full moon of the 12th lunar month (usually in November) people gather at lakes, rivers, canals, and/or other waterways to set adrift krathongs.

Loi Krathong Festival 2012

Held annually, Loi Krathong is one of the most beautiful Thai festivals, and it is a time to give thanks to the goddess of waters and to seek forgiveness for past misdeeds. It occurs at night during the full moon of the 12th Thai lunar month. This year the event falls on November 28.

Royal Barge Procession Is Scheduled for 9 November 2012

The government has assigned the Royal Thai Navy to orchestrate a royal barge procession on the Chao Phraya River for a traditional royal “kathin” ceremony marking the end of the Buddhist Lent at historic riverside Wat Arun, or the Temple of Dawn.
