An Exhibition and Commemorative Coins in Honor of His Majesty the King

In order to commemorate the 64th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne this year, the Government Public Relations Department (PRD) will organize a three-day exhibition on His Majesty’s life and work. The year 2010 also marks the 60th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty. On this special occasion, the Treasury Department has produced three types of commemorative coins in celebration of the milestone of His Majesty’s coronation.

Grand Celebrations for the 60th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty the King

Thailand is holding grand celebrations for the 60th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej from May 5 to 9. The grand celebrations under the theme “Joining Forces to Show Loyalty to His Majesty” provide a good opportunity for all Thais to pay tribute to His Majesty the King, who is recognized as the Father of the Thai Nation.

Week-Long Celebration for the 60th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty the King

All provinces have been urged to organize various activities in celebration of the upcoming 60th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The celebration will take place during a week-long event, scheduled for 1-7 May 2010.

Chakri Memorial Day and 228 Years of Bangkok as the Capital of Thailand

Each year on April 6, Thailand celebrates Chakri Memorial Day, which marks the anniversary of the founding of the Royal House of Chakri. It is a public holiday when Thai people commemorate the enthronement of King Rama I, who established Bangkok as the capital of Thailand. This year Thailand also celebrates the 228th anniversary of the Bangkok capital.

Presentation of Prince Mahidol Award 2009

Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn, as the Representative of His Majesty the King, will confer the Prince Mahidol Award 2009 to the awardees on 27 January 2010 at 17.30 hr at the Chakri Throne Hall in the Grand Palace compound in Bangkok. On behalf of His Majesty the King, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will host a banquet in honor of the awardees on the same day at Boromrajasathitmaholarn Throne Hall at 20.00 hr, also in the Grand Palace compound.

A Call for Applying the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy in Following in the Footsteps of His Majesty the King

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has urged all groups of people to apply the Sufficiency Economy philosophy, as a way of following in the footsteps of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. He also called for the spread of the message of Sufficiency Economy more widely for the happiness of everyone.
