Second ASEAN Media Forum to Be Held In Bangkok

The Asian Media International and Communication Center (AMIC) in collaboration with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), the ASEAN Secretariat (Jakarta), and TV ASEAN (Thailand), will organize the 2nd ASEAN Media Forum on 9-10 November 2010 at Hotel Windsor Suites on Sukhumvit Road, Soi 20, in Bangkok.

Thailand to Position Itself as a Center for Agriculture Knowledge and Technology Transfer in ASEAN

The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives plans to position Thailand as a center for agriculture knowledge and technology in the ASEAN region.

Thailand’s Border Trade with Neighboring Countries in the First Half of 2010

Sharing borders with four neighboring countries, namely Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia, Thailand operates border checkpoints to facilitate cross-border trade with the four countries. In the first six months of 2010, Thailand’s border trade with its neighboring countries expanded significantly, at 33 percent over that of the same period in 2009.

Mr. Hidetoshi Nishimura, Executive Director of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), has cited Thailand as the center of production networks in this region.

Thailand has continued to push for a stronger ASEAN and a truly integrated ASEAN Community by the year 2015. It is also striving to develop itself into a center of ASEAN.
