Bhutani Royal Delegation Visits Chulabhorn Research Institute

Lord Chamberlain of Bhutan's Bureau of the Royal Household led a Bhutani royal delegation for social affairs to visit the Chulabhorn Research Institute under the royal patronage of HRH Princess Chulabhorn in Bangkok yesterday. The group observed cancer treatment projects at the Institute's National Cyclotron and PET Center, which is under the Chulabhorn Cancer Center and is recognized as a most advance and highest efficient cancer treatment establishment in Southeast Asia. The center uses advance nuclear medicine to diagnose and treat cancer patients. The study visit was part of the Bhutani royal delegation's one-week trip to the Kingdom scheduled for 4-12 December 2007.

Government Organizes Gala Reception in Honor of HM the King

The government organized a gala reception at Government House this evening in honor of His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty's 80th birthday anniversary on 5 December 2007. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn chaired the grand event. Earlier, His Majesty the King received birthday greetings from HRH Duke of York, Prince Andrew, 30 heads of states, and two international organizations.

Another Exhibition Is Held in Honor of HM the King

The Thai government, through the Finance Ministry's Treasury Department, is organizing an exhibition in honor of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty's 80th birthday anniversary at Bangkok's Queen Sirikit National Convention Center from 7-11 December 2007. Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont opened the exhibition, entitled "A Story of His Majesty the King Through Coins and Royal Regalia", today. His Majesty the King's biography, talents, and royal projects-- recognized across the world as an exceptional model of morality and sacrifice for national development and the Thai people's well-being--were exhibited in the five-day event.

HM the King Attends Merit-Making Ceremony at Grand Palace

His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej attended a merit-making ceremony at the Grand Palace this morning as part of the auspicious occasion of his 80th birthday anniversary. The royal event was joined by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and other members of the Royal Family. His Majesty offered food for more than 80 senior monks and listened to sermons. Senior government officers and Brahmins were there to greet Their Majesties.

Crowds Join Mass Candle-Lighting Ceremony in Honor of HM the King

Crowds of tens of thousands of well-wishers, mostly donned in yellow, gathered at Sanam Luang ceremonial ground in Bangkok this evening for a mass candle-lighting ceremony in honor of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty's 80th birthday anniversary. Other activities as part of the event, chaired by Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont, included a mass singing of the Royal Anthem and other songs dedicated to the beloved monarch and a display of a series of spectacular fireworks. Similar events were also held in other provinces throughout the Kingdom.

HM the King Grants Grand Public Audience on His 80th Birthday Anniversary

His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, with members of the Royal Family, granted a grand public audience to loyal Thai subjects from the front balcony of the Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall inside the Grand Palace today on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty's 80th birthday anniversary. In his speech, His Majesty the King stressed on national conciliation with virtues and accountability for the sake of national development and stability.

HM the King Will Greet Well-Wishers on His 80th Birthday

His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej will grant a grand public audience to loyal Thai subjects tomorrow--on the auspicious occasion of his 80th birthday anniversary. His Majesty the King will greet the well wishers from the front balcony of the Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall inside the Grand Palace at 10.30 hrs. Meanwhile, the Thai Government, in cooperation with Chinese and Japanese governments, are organizing a series of grand firework displays in Bangkok and Rayong province from 4-8 December 2007. In Bangkok, the firework displays are scheduled to be held in Nang Lerng area on December 4, at Rama 9 Bridge on December 5, on Henri Dunant Road on December 6, and at Mae Pim Beach in Rayong on December 7.

State Personnel Take Oaths To Behave Well

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont today led state personnel from all sectors, including civil services, the military and police, to take oaths before a portrait of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej at Government House in Bangkok, expressing their determinations to behave well morally with rightness, honesty and transparency for the sake of public and national interests. The ceremony was organized in honor of His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty's 80th birthday anniversary on 5 December 2007.

HM the King Calls for National Conscience and Unity

Their Majesties the King and Queen, together with HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, inspected a military parade at Royal Plaza in Bangkok today, at which the revered and beloved monarch called for national conscience and unity with honesty, less bias and mercy to sustain national security, which is the ultimate goal of all Thais. His Majesty the King suggested that the Kingdom has maintained its sovereignty because all Thais have realized the Thainess and their duties to protect our independence and security. The military swore an oath before Their Majesties. The 13 battalions of Royal Guards also shot 21-gun salute, released 8,000 balloons with "Long Live the King" marked in silk, chanted "Long Live the King" three times and played the Royal Anthem in honor of His Majesty the King, who turns 80 on 5 December 2007.

King Exhibition Is Held at Muang Thong Thani

The Thai government organizes a state exhibition in honor of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty's 80th birthday anniversary at Hall 1-4 of the IMPACT Trade and Exhibition Center in Muang Thong Thani from 1-10 December 2007. Visitors from all walks of life have thronged into the venue after Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont officially opened it yesterday. The 10-day grand event exhibits His Majesty the King's biography, royal activities, and royal projects through multimedia facilities. Visitors are also invited to write their determinations to do good deeds to pay tribute to the beloved monarch on Bhothi leaves provided at the venue.
