Although Hospitalized, HM the King Concerns Over Flood Situation

Dr. Sumeth Tantivejkul, Secretary-General of the Chai Pattana Foundation, revealed yesterday that although His Majesty the king had been hospitalized for some weeks, he had been monitoring the country’s flooding situation and other weather conditions. He said the King assigned HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to work at his command. Meanwhile, the 19th statement issued by the Bureau of the Royal Household reported that the King had been able to move around more as he wished. He could walk longer with the support of a walker and enjoyed a good appetite, according to the statement.

Overall Condition of HM the King and HRH Princess Galyani Stable

In the 18th statement issued by the Royal Household Bureau, the team of Royal Physicians reported that the follow-up blood tests of His Majesty the King showed that the inflammation of his large intestine has now returned to normal and the blood chemistry is within normal limits. The statement said the monarch's general condition is good. Meanwhile, Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana's overall condition is stable. According to the Royal Household Bureau's 6th statement, the team of Royal Physicians said her blood pressure is within normal limits. Hundreds of thousands of Thais have gathered at Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital every day to sign a get-well registry and to wish His Majesty and Her Royal Highness a quick recovery.

Improvement of His Majesty the King’s Health and Preparations for the Celebrations of His 80th Birthday on December 5

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont said that Thai people felt relieved, as His Majesty the King’s health was improving steadily. He also urged Thai people to unite their hearts to pay tribute to His Majesty in celebration of His Majesty’s 80th birthday anniversary, 5 December 2007.

Health of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana Is Improving

Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana is getting increasing movement in her right arm and right leg. A fourth Royal Household Bureau statement on her condition said yesterday that the Princess is more conscious and can perform some physical exercises. A magnetic resonance imaging (MRT) scan showed minimal brain swelling. Meanwhile, the Culture Ministry and Silpakorn University's Faculty of Music are planning to establish a classical music institute to mark the 84th birthday of Her Royal Highness. Culture Minister Khunying Khaisri Sriaroon said the institute will be located on a 14-rai plot underneath Rama VIII Bridge on the Phra Nakhon side and be called The Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute for Classical Music, which she has approved.

HM the King and Princess' Medical Conditions Are Improving

The overall medical conditions of His Majesty the King and the monarch's elder sister, Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, both of whom are under medical care at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok, are improving. The Royal Household Bureau announced yesterday that the King is able to walk with a walker-support for a longer period of time and his overall condition is satisfactory. Meanwhile, the Bureau's third announcement on HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana's condition stated that the princess, being treated for cancer, reported that her general condition is improving. The weakness of the right side of her body has slightly diminished. Now exhibiting no fever, the princess has regained movement in her right arm and hand, and her blood pressure is within normal limits.

His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's health is recovering steadily. In its 14th statement reporting on the king's health, the Royal Household Bureau said the team of royal physicians at Siriraj Hospital reported that His Majesty the King can perform more active exercise. The Thai monarch, hospitalized since October 13, has regained a good appetite, according to the statement. Meanwhile, the bureau issued its second statement on Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, elder sister of King Bhumibol. The princess is still weak on the right side of her body, but is able to move her left side as she wishes.

HM the King Will Be Soon Discharged from Hospital

His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej will soon be discharged from Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital, where he has received medical treatment since 13 October 2007 after suffering a mild symptom of inadequate blood in the outer part of hisleft-side brain, known as cerebral ischemia, causing him losing strength over the right side of the body. According to the Bureau of the Royal Household, His Majesty the King is recovering well and regaining strength over the right part of his body, while inflammation in his large intestine has reduced. Arrangements by metropolitan police forces for His Majesty's return to Chitralada Villa, which is expected soon, have been already in good place. The beloved and revered Thai monarch will turn 80 on 5 December 2007.

HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana Receives Treatment at Siriraj Hospital

Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's eldest sister, has been diagnosed with cancer since June 2007 and has been admitted to Siriraj Hospital to receive medicine treatment. The Bureau of the Royal Household says the Princess, 84, is also having problems with the right side of her body as some parts of her brain are dysfunctional, caused by bloodclots. The Princess’s conditions are sometimes stable, but sometimes not.

UK Queen Elizabeth II Sends Get-Well Message to HM the King

HM Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom has sent a royal message to HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej expressing concern over the King's illness and wishing His Majesty a full recovery soonest. Queen Elizabeth II has also praised sound relations between the Thai and UK royal families. The royal message was conveyed to His Majesty the King by UK Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Mr. Quinton Quayle. Meanwhile, throngs of Thai people from all walks of life, as well as foreign diplomats and other well-wishers have continued to visit Siriraj Hospital, where His Majesty the King has received medical treatment since 13 October 2007, to write their get-well messages to the beloved monarch.

HM the King Continues to Recover in Hospital

His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej was reported as regaining his strength and on the path to recovery from his recent illness. In its eleventh statement on the king's health, the Royal Household Bureau said His Majesty the King’s regimen of active exercise had made his right leg muscles stronger. According to the statement, he was now able to walk with a walker and have more food. The statement said the royal physicians were satisfied with his overall condition.
