Wat Phra Chetuphon, popularly referred to as Wat Pho, is attracting more visitors with an event to celebrate its inscriptions, which have been registered as a “Memory of the World” by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Highlighting Thai-Chinese Cooperation during the Official Visit to Thailand by the Chinese Vice President

Mr. Xi Jinping, Vice President of the People’s Republic of China, is scheduled to pay an official visit to Thailand as guest of the Thai government on 22-24 December 2011. Prior to the visit, the Cabinet, during its meeting on December 19, approved two memorandums of understanding (MOUs) between the two countries and an Action Plan on Sino-Thai Cultural Cooperation for 2011-2013.

Official Visit of China’s Vice-President to Thailand

Mr. Xi Jinping, Vice-President of the People’s Republic of China, is scheduled to pay an official visit to Thailand as guest of the Thai government from 22 – 24 December 2011.

A Number of Flood-hit Workers Re-employed

The Minister of Labor, Phadermchai Sasomsub, has revealed that 990,000 workers had been affected by this year’s floods. Out of this number, 500,000 have already been re-employed or have returned to their previous workplaces.

The Use of the L'se-Majest' Law in Thailand

The Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, said that the lèse-majesté law is not aimed at curbing people’s rights to freedom of opinion and expression nor the legitimate exercise of academic freedom, including debates about the monarchy as an institution.
