Starting from 1 January 2005, Thailand will celebrate the 60th anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s accession to the throne. The celebrations will be held on a grand scale in a jubilant and festive mood for a two-year period. Thai people are excited about witnessing and joining many of the activities that will be held for this auspicious and rare occasion.

Her Majesty the Queen has fully supported His Majesty the King in his task of alleviating the distress and increasing the well-being of his people. Her Majesty has graciously given of her untiring efforts and finances in order to support the setting up of home industries. In this regard, Her Majesty has initiated the establishment of the Foundation for Supplementary Occupations and Related Techniques (SUPPORT) and has continued to give it her royal patronage.

His Majesty the King and the Hill Tribes in Thailand
His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej is the first monarch to have been wholeheartedly embraced by ethnic tribes in the country, those living in the highlands and on the sea, as well. He is highly revered among the hill tribes, who know him from the regular visits he has paid over the decades.

Benchakitti Water Park in Honor of H.M. the Queen
A new public park will be opened to the public within this year on the vacated Tobacco Monopoly complex on Rama I and Ratchadaphisek Roads, where the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center is located.

From his early childhood, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has shown a keen interest in music. He pursued musical training in school in Switzerland, with lessons given to him by a master in classical music for two years.

Her Majesty the Queen Thanks Thai People for Their Good Deeds
Her Majesty Queen Sirikit thanked Thai people for their good deeds and numerous activities to pay tribute to her on the occasion of her 6th cycle or 72nd birthday anniversary, August 12. She granted an audience to about 20,000 well-wishers from all walks of life at Dusidalai Hall within Chitralada Villa on the eve of her 72nd birthday.
