
More Thai youths have brought reputation to the nation by winning more medals from the International Science Olympiads 2007.
According to the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST), a group of Thai students won one gold medal, three silver and two bronze medals from the International Mathematical Olympiad, held in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi from 19-31 July 2007.
Most of the six high-school students, five of them, are from Triam Udom Suksa School and the other one is from Bangkok Christian College. The students are scheduled to return to Bangkok on 31 July 2007.
Earlier, other groups of Thai youths also won International Physics, Biology and Chemistry Olympiads 2007 held earlier in July in Iran, Canada and Russia respectively.
The International Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematical Olympiads 2007 are all part of the International Science Olympiads, a cluster of worldwide annual competitions in various areas of science designed for best 4-6 member groups of high school students from participating countries, aimed to promote brightest students from around the world.
Thai students grabbed one gold, two silver and two bronze medals from the International Physics Olympiads, while winning two gold and two silver medals from the International Biology Olympiad and bringing one more gold medal and three more silver medals from the International Chemistry Olympiads.
The students are from leading Thai schools, including Triam Udom Suksa School, Suan Kulab Wittayalai School, Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School, Mahidol Witthayanusorn School, Assumption Bangrak School, Bangkok Christian College and Buri Rum Pittayakom School.
