The year 2011 is considered a significant year for Thailand, as it marks the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King’s 84th birthday anniversary.
As a tribute to His Majesty, both the public and private sectors are joining hands in organizing various activities and projects to commemorate this special occasion. His Majesty has granted the title for the year-long celebrations “The Celebrations on the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 5th December 2011.”
For Thai people, the 7th cycle, or 84th, birthday anniversary is an important milestone in life and a special celebration is usually arranged on this occasion. The Bureau of the Royal Household is planning to put on show a multimedia extravaganza from 17 December 2010 to 28 February 2011 at the Sala Saha Thai Samakhom within the Grand Palace compound in Bangkok. The show will also celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s 80th birthday anniversary in 2012 and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn’s 60th birthday anniversary, also in 2012.
It will take place every day from 19.00 to 20.20 hr during the period, except on Mondays and between 27 December 2010 and 3 January 2011. But the performance will be staged on Monday, February 28, the birthday of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince. Tickets are 500 baht for all seats and will be available from December 6 onwards at the Public Relations Room in the Grand Palace. Each show can accommodate 2,000 people. Proceeds will be presented to His Majesty the King for charity purposes.
The show will feature each period of the Rattanakosin era, when the kings of the Royal House of Chakri were able to preserve national sovereignty and contribute to the Kingdom in many respects. In particular, the present monarch, the ninth king of the Royal House of Chakri, has worked tirelessly for the happiness of the Thai people.
