A fifteen-member delegation from the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Public Relations Department (PRD), led by H.E. Mr. Anek Permvongseni, Deputy Permanent Secretary, paid an official visit to Brunei Darussalam from 26-29 Septemner 2011 for the 10th Thai-Brunei Joint Technical Committee Meeting (JTC) hosted by Radio and Television Brunei (RTB).
Mr. Haji Amer Hamzah Dato Seri Zakaria, Acting Permanent Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office, as head of the Brunei delegation, welcomed all delegates to Bandar Seri Begawan. Thailand and Brunei Darussalam started the process of cooperation in the Field of Information and Broadcasting after they signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on 16th August 2001 at Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.
At the 10th JTC Meeting, the two sides discussed how to implement some projects in accordance with the MOU, including the exchanges of television programmes, radio and television teams, news item, media content exchange through the Internet, and visits of their officials as well as joint musical variety show.
The meeting concluded successfully and both sides agreed to continue their support to various activities and programmes in order to help promote closer ties and friendship, as well as better understanding between the two peoples. Thailand will host the 11th JTC in Bangkok next year.
