Thai-Vietnam media Cooperation stimulates ASEAN Awareness (12/06/2012)

Thailand’s Public Relations Department (PRD) and Vietnam News Agency (VNA) extends more cooperation in media content and diversifies platforms in support of a strong ASEAN Community.
Heads of the two organizations, PRD’s Director-General Mr. Teerapong Sodasri and Director-General of VNA, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, agreed during the 9th Technical Committee Meeting that took place in Ho Chi Minh City on June 6th to extend their cooperation into the field of television news and documentaries exchanges. The session was carried out under the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Information and News Exchange between PRD and VNA. The meeting also reviewed activities under bilateral cooperation which included frequencies of news and information exchange in form of text, multi- media, information, and news footage.

The PRD Director-General Teerapong Sodasri stressed the significance of the bilateral cooperation stating that the exchange of news and information is even more in need now as both Thailand and Vietnam are to enter the ASEAN Community. Media play significant parts in bridging people and getting them to learn about one another’s culture, background, lifestyle and economy and hopefully it would lead to a stronger ASEAN.
