Thai traditional dress and Muaythai to be proposed for UNESCO intangible cultural heritage

The Cabinet has recently endorsed the Culture Ministry's proposal to nominate Thai traditional dress and Muaythai for UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The documents gathering knowledge about these cultural elements are being prepared for submission to UNESCO by 31 March 2024.

Later this year, Thailand’s Tomyum Kung (spicy shrimp soup) and Kebaya (a traditional costume in southern Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, and Indonesia) are going be considered by UNESCO, followed by Phakhaoma (a multifunctional cloth used in Thai life).
