Thailand's space ambitions are being propelled by the Satellite Assembly Integration and Testing Center (AIT) at Space Inspirium in Sriracha, Chonburi Province. Managed by the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), this center boasts advanced facilities, including a clean room and test bench for satellite research and development. Key users include Mu Space Corp and the Royal Thai Air Force.
The AIT has tested the RTAF’s Thai Universe-1 satellite for resilience in harsh space conditions through vibration and temperature tests, alongside mass property tests. Future plans include adding electromagnetic interference tests. Its equipment meets United Kingdom and international standards (ISO 9100), validated by Surrey Satellite Technology, Ltd. (SSTL).
Recently, the AIT facilitated testing for Thailand’s THEOS-2A satellite, set to launch from India’s Satish Dhawan Space Center by the end of 2024. Developed jointly by GISTDA engineers and SSTL experts over two years, THEOS-2A will orbit 520 km above Earth, serving national needs such as agricultural management and disaster response.
