The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) and its partners have announced the results of their efforts to combat cybercrimes through the Anti Online Scam Operation Center (AOC), a one-stop service available 24/7. The results cover the past year, from 1 November 2023 to 14 November 2024.
Since the establishment of the AOC’s 1441 hotline on 1 November 2023, the AOC has been able to quickly suspend suspicious accounts, typically within 10 minutes of receiving a call, and forward the information to law enforcement for further investigation. In addition to this, the AOC serves as a central hub for coordinating efforts across various agencies to analyze and share data, ensuring that online scams are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.
From November 2023 to October 2024, the AOC received a total of 1,176,512 calls to its 1441 hotline, resulting in the suspension of 348,006 suspicious accounts; by doing so, it was able to prevent approximately 19 billion baht in losses.
Despite the high volume of incidents, there has been a notable decrease in online crime reports, which is attributed to the increasing cooperation and intensive efforts by all parties in preventing and suppressing online scams.
The MDES continues to prioritize the fight against cybercrime and is committed to enhancing the effectiveness of the AOC to protect the public.
