Bangkok named world’s second-best city

Bangkok has recently been recognized as the second among the 50 best cities in the world in 2025, as announced by the British media company “Time Out,” jumping 22 spots from 2024’s ranking. The ranking was based on the votes of Time Out’s global network of city experts, which counted “livability” as a key factor of this year’s ranking.

Time Out has this to say about Bangkok: “It’s one of the world’s friendliest cities – a warm welcome is pretty much guaranteed in the capital of a country known as the ‘Land of Smiles’. Intricately designed temples like Wat Arun and the Grand Palace offer a glimpse into Bangkok’s rich culture and captivating history, while parks like Benjakitti Park provide vital green breathing space. And, of course, Bangkok’s food scene is second to none. Markets like Chatuchak showcase the city’s famous street eats, while tasty dishes that pack a punch can be found along the dining belt of Yaowarat. Bangkok’s at its liveliest when the sun goes down – follow the cool crowd to the trendy bars of Thonglor or neighbouring Ekkamai, named one of Time Out’s coolest neighbourhoods in the world. Thanks to the newly expanded BTS Skytrain and MRT systems, navigating all of that is now easier than ever.”

The list of the ten best cities in the world include Cape Town, Bangkok, New York, Melbourne, London, New Orleans, Mexico City, Porto, Shanghai, and Copenhagen.
