Thailand ready to host IMF & World Bank annual meetings in October 2026

The Thai government, led by the Prime Minister, has begun the preparations for hosting the 2026 annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG), which will take place in Bangkok in October 2026. This will be the second occasion since 1991 that Thailand has had the honor of hosting the IMF-WBG Annual Meetings, one of the world’s top economic conferences, with more than 18,000 expected attendees, including finance ministers and central bank governors of the nearly 200 member countries.

The annual meetings will provide significant opportunities for Thailand to showcase its economic and financial progress. The country is moving toward becoming a regional financial hub through financial innovations, such as advancing AI-driven finance and digital payment systems. Thailand plans to use the event to enhance its global standing in tourism, cultural influence, and medical wellness.
