Airports of Thailand (AOT) is proceeding its expansion projects at Suvarnabhumi Airport, allowing it to accommodate 150 million passengers annually by 2033.
Currently, the airport handles 65 million passengers per year. Several construction projects are being worked on, including an eastern expansion project, which will further increase passenger capacity by 15 million per year. The expansion will increase the airport’s area to 100,000 square meters. AOT will also construct the South Terminal, which will be able to accommodate 70 million annually. In addition, the building of the fourth runway will increase the airport’s capacity to up to 120 flights per hour.
The move is expected to improve the safety, service quality, and convenience, aligning with the Government’s target to make Suvarnabhumi Airport one of the top 20 airports in the world.
