5 relief measures for Thai businesses in face of the US reciprocal tariff policy

The Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand) has released measures to ease impacts of the US reciprocal tariff policy on Thai entrepreneurs, particularly SMEs, under five key guidelines below:
- Set up an Export Clinic to assist affected entrepreneurs, both importers and exporters, by offering financial support with relief measures, such as extension of loan repayment terms of up to 365 days;
- Provide assistance and advice to businesses through EXIM Thailand’s contact channels;
- Encourage entrepreneurs to expand their businesses to new frontier markets with good potential;
- Support the import of goods from the USA in line with government policy in the following phase;
- Promote Thai business entities’ additional investment in the USA.

In 2024, Thailand’s total export value accounted for 300,530 million US dollars, of which 54,956 million US dollars, or 18%, was for exports to the US market. According to Thailand’s Office of Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion, approximately 3,700 Thai SMEs could be affected by the tariff policy in their exports to the USA, involving an export value of about 7,634 million US dollars.
