Thailand to Host 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship Across 4 Cities

Thailand is set to host the prestigious FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship from 22 August to 7 September 2025, featuring 32 top national teams competing across Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Nakhon Ratchasima.

Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong announced that the event aligns with Thailand's "Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025" initiative and is projected to generate over THB 8.5 billion Baht, or around USD 260 million in economic impact while reaching a global audience of 1.3 billion viewers.

Teams from five continents will participate, including volleyball powerhouses such as the USA, China, Brazil, and defending champions Serbia. The tournament begins with pool play across all four host cities, followed by knockout rounds in Bangkok culminating with the final on 7 September.

Each host city brings significant sporting experience, with Bangkok having hosted four Asian Games, Chiang Mai recently welcoming major volleyball events, Nakhon Ratchasima serving as a volleyball stronghold, and Phuket bringing beach volleyball expertise.

Thailand is implementing a "Green Heart Event" sustainability model throughout the championship, which Tourism Authority Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool says showcases the country's ability to deliver eco-friendly global events while highlighting Thai culture and hospitality.

The tournament is part of Thailand's landmark sports year, which includes the 33rd SEA Games and several other international competitions. Volleyball ranks as Thailand's second most-watched sport, with the women's national team consistently ranked in the world's top 15.
