Thailand eyes Rise of Vegetable Oil Export

According to Thailand’s Trade Policy and Strategy Office, vegetable oil consumption worldwide has grown by an average of 2.48% annually between 2015 and 2025, thanks to the rising trend of healthy products. This opens more opportunities for Thai vegetable oil exports, particularly palm oil, rice bran oil, and coconut oil.

In 2024, Thailand was the world’s third-largest exporter of palm oil, worth over 41 million US dollars, or a 3.17% increase. Major export markets are India, Myanmar, and China. Thailand was also ranked the world’s tenth coconut oil exporter, valued at 4.2 billion US dollars. Japan, Russia, and Hong Kong are the three largest importers of Thailand’s coconut oil.

Thailand’s tropical climate is well suited for cultivation of a wide range of plants, which can be used as raw materials for various types of oil production. In addition, the Government is supporting oil production in accordance with global demand.
