Thailand's Government Public Relations Department (PRD) and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) have reached an agreement to strengthen their media partnership, with plans to broadcast BBC programming on Thai public radio.
PRD Director-General Sudruetai Lertkasem has recently led a delegation to BBC headquarters in London, where they have met with senior BBC executives, including Jon Zilkha, CEO of BBC News World Service, and Khalid Abdalla, Head of Business Development for Asia-Pacific.
Both organizations have launched a pilot radio collaboration project that will bring BBC's English-language news and programming to Thai audiences, providing access to international content. The director-general has announced that this content will soon be available on Radio Thailand FM 88.0 MHz. The partnership will also offer professional training opportunities for PRD staff at the BBC, with both sides expecting to formalize their cooperation by the end of this year.
In addition, the PRD delegation has toured BBC's state-of-the-art facilities during their visit, including the media technology laboratory and main newsroom.
