Thailand wins 6 PATA Sustainability & Social awards for 2025

The Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (Public Organization), or DASTA, has won the Grand Award for Sustainability and Social Responsibility at the Pacific Aisa Travel Association (PATA) Gold Awards 2025, along with five Gold Awards for outstanding projects in climate action, inclusiveness, women and youth empowerment, and heritage revitalization—highlighting its leadership in community-based tourism across Thailand.

The Grand Award—the PATA Gold Awards’ highest honor for sustainability and social responsibility—went to the “Cultural Heritage Preservation of the Ban Ton Chan Homestay Community Enterprise in Sukhothai Province.”

DASTA also earned five other Gold Awards in the same category, including the following:
- Best Climate Action: The project “Carbon Neutral Community-based Tourism Prototype” for the best climate action initiative;
- Best Inclusion and Diversity: The project “Community-based Tourism for All: CBT for All”;
- Destination Resilience: The project “Creative Spaces Revitalizing Songkhla Old Town into a Lively Heritage District”;
- Best Women Empowerment: The project “Women’s Empowerment in Driving Community-Based Tourism: A Case Study of Ban San Thang Luang, Chiang Rai Province”;
- Best Youth Empowerment: The project “Social Enterprise for Youth in Thailand – Loei Youth Saving Group”.
