Agoda, a leading global travel platform, has ranked Bangkok as the top city in its 2025 Return Visitor Rank, naming it Asia’s most popular destination for repeat travelers based on Agoda’s booking data from the first half of the year. Other major Thai destinations such as Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, and Hatyai, also featured in the ranking, reflecting Thailand’s diverse attractions that cater to all types of travelers.
Agoda’s Country Director, Akaporn Rodkong, stated that Bangkok’s popularity is driven by the city’s vibrancy, distinctive cuisine, and the collaborative efforts of Thailand’s tourism sector and government, which deliver experiences that keep travelers coming back time and time again. This success is evident in the repeated visits of travelers, who come back to discover attractions they missed, revisit favorite sites, and enjoy the familiarity of the city, sometimes returning multiple times within just six months, according to Agoda.
Bangkok also holds a “Level 1 – Exercise Normal Precautions” rating from the U.S. Department of State, the highest safety level in the latest Travel Advisory published on 9 June 2025, according to Ms. Sasikarn Watthanachan, Deputy Government Spokesperson.
To further promote tourism, the Thai government, together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, has launched the “Amazing Thailand Grand Sale 2025” from 1 July to 15 August 2025. In partnership with the private sector, the campaign aims to boost spending and attract tourists from key markets including India, China, Malaysia, Lao PDR, and Vietnam.
The campaign offers special deals on accommodations, hotels, travel packages, and shopping nationwide, while promoting new forms of tourism such as wellness travel, music festivals, sports, and international events to create unique “experiences” in line with modern travel trends.
