Deep Dive into 3 Key Meetings at AIBD GC 2025, 19 - 21 August 2025, Phuket

The General Conference for the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (2025 AIBD General Conference), organized by Thailand’s Government Public Relations Department (PRD), will take place from 19–21 August 2025 in Phuket Province under the theme “Media for People, Peace, and Prosperity.” This international event serves as a vital platform for advancing the media industry across the Asia-Pacific region. The conference is structured around three key meetings, each playing a strategic role in shaping the future direction and operations of the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD).

Understanding the three key meetings:
• Strategic Planning Team (SPT)
The SPT acts as AIBD’s think tank, bringing together media experts from member countries to collaboratively develop long-term strategic plans. The discussions focus on addressing the fast-changing media landscape and laying the groundwork for AIBD’s future direction.
The PRD will play an active role by sending representatives to participate in the SPT and nominating delegates to join three sub-working groups, helping to shape strategic frameworks for the coming years.

• Executive Board (EXBO)
The EXBO is responsible for the governance and overall management of AIBD, ensuring that its operations align with the strategic direction set by the SPT. This includes reviewing and approving projects, activities, and budgets to facilitate effective implementation.
Currently, Ms. Sudruetai Lertkasem, Director-General of the PRD, serves as Chairperson of the Executive Board.

• The 23rd AIBD General Conference (GC) stands as the flagship event of the organization, bringing together leaders, policymakers, and executives from more than 87 media outlets across 42 member countries and territories. This forum serves as a platform for high-level dialogue, the exchange of ideas, and collective decision-making on critical issues shaping the overall direction and policy framework of AIBD.

Together with these three meetings, this collaboration will pave the way for a clear strategic vision and actionable plans—strengthening media standards and capabilities across the Asia-Pacific region and ensuring sustainable development for years to come.
