The Thai government has received additional humanitarian assistance from both Japan and China to support ongoing recovery efforts in southern provinces affected by recent flooding.
At Government House on 2 December 2025, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met with Japanese Ambassador H.E. Otaka Masato to receive emergency relief supplies from the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The assistance includes 150 large tents, 3,000 sleeping mats, 3,000 blankets, 150 waterproof sheets, 500 water containers, and 20 water purifiers capable of producing four liters of clean water per minute, valued at approximately 7.1 million baht (221,920 USD). The items will be delivered to the Vayupak Network Flood Relief Command Center under the Ministry of Finance for distribution to communities recovering from the disaster.
The Prime Minister expressed appreciation on behalf of the Thai government and people, noting that Japan’s swift support reflects the long-standing trust and close partnership between the two countries. The Japanese Ambassador reaffirmed Japan’s readiness to assist Thailand, while the JICA Chief Representative recalled Thailand’s past support during major earthquakes and tsunamis in Japan, underscoring that “when friends face hardship, we help each other.”
In a separate ceremony on 3 December 2025, the Prime Minister also received financial contributions from Chinese Ambassador H.E. Zhang Jianwei, alongside representatives of Thai-Chinese associations, organizations, and companies. China has provided more than 30 million baht (937,790 USD) in assistance to date, with an additional 32 million baht (1,000,200 USD) contributed during the ceremony. The Thian Fah Foundation Hospital further donated 5 million baht (156,280 USD) to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
The Chinese Ambassador stated that the contribution reflects the enduring friendship and close cooperation between Thailand and China, describing the relationship as one of “brothers and true friends” who support each other in difficult times.
The Prime Minister thanked all partners for their solidarity, reaffirming that all support, both in-kind and financial, will be used transparently and effectively to restore livelihoods, public services, and local economies in affected communities. He added that Thailand will continue strengthening disaster preparedness to ensure rapid and efficient responses to future emergencies.
