TAK, RAYONG, & SATUN Join UNESCO GLOBAL NETWORK OF LEARNING CITIES

The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has officially welcomed the provinces of Tak, Rayong, and Satun into its Global Network of Learning Cities for 2025, in recognition for their commitment to making the right to education across all ages a reality for all at the local level.

Education Minister Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat noted that this achievement highlights Thailand’s progress in driving its lifelong learning policy. Each province offers distinct strengths:
- Tak Municipality—Cultural activities and traditional crafts play an important role in community learning and local skill development;
- Rayong—An industrial province in Thailand, Rayong promotes lifelong learning to address economic change, environmental challenges, and the needs of a large migrant workforce;
- Satun—Its economy combines agriculture, fisheries, and tourism, while diverse Thai, Chinese, Malay, Urak Lawoi, and Maniq communities contribute to a rich cultural identity.

In addition to these new Learning Cities, Thailand can also boast several UNESCO Creative Cities: Phuket (Gastronomy), Chiang Mai (Crafts & Folk Art), Bangkok (Design), Sukhothai (Crafts & Folk Art), Phetchaburi (Gastronomy), Chiang Rai (Design), Suphanburi (Music), Nan (Crafts & Folk Art), and Songkhla (Gastronomy).
