Thailand Gears Up for Spectacular Opening of 13th ASEAN Para Games in Nakhon Ratchasima

Thailand is ready to host the 13th ASEAN Para Games from 20-26 January 2026, in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, according to the Sports Authority of Thailand. The official opening ceremony will take place on the evening of 20 January at His Majesty the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary Stadium (5th December 2007) in Nakhon Ratchasima.

His Majesty the King has graciously granted permission for General His Serene Highness Prince Chalermsuk Yugala to preside over the opening ceremony on His Majesty's behalf. Thailand and the host province are preparing a spectacular production featuring lights, sound, and performances that will showcase Thai arts, culture, and identity to ASEAN and the world.

In addition, renowned Thai artists such as rapper Milli (Danupha Khanatheerakul) and Keng Tachaya (Tachaya Prathumwan) will join the celebration. During the athletes’ parade, Prawat Wahoram, a seven-time Paralympic gold medalist wheelchair racer, will carry the Thai national flag, leading the Thai contingent into the stadium.

Another highlight of the opening ceremony will be the torch relay. The torch will be carried by Chaiwat Rattana, a wheelchair racer from the Cerebral Palsy Sports Association of Thailand; Panom Laksanaprim, a swimmer from the Sports Association for the Blind of Thailand; and Orawan Kaising, an athlete from the Sports Association for Intellectual Disability of Thailand. Five-time Paralympic gold medalist and wheelchair fencer Saysunee Jana will serve as the final torchbearer, lighting the cauldron to officially open the Games.

The opening ceremony of the 13th ASEAN Para Games on 20 January 2026 will be open to the public at His Majesty the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary Stadium (5th December 2007). The ceremony will also be broadcast live on NBT, PPTV HD 36, and T Sports 7, with online streaming available on TrueVisions Now, beginning at 19.00 hr.
