Bangkok Design Week (BKKDW) returns for its 9th edition from 29 January to 8 February 2026, transforming the capital into a vibrant laboratory for creative survival. Organized by the Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization) or CEA, this edition presents "DESIGN S/O/S"—a theme that reframes design not as a luxury, but as an essential tool for navigating a world defined by economic shifts and environmental turmoil. The festival centers on three strategic pillars: Securing Domestic Markets (boosting local markets), Outreach Opportunities (elevating Thai creativity to the global stage), and Sustainable Future (designing for long-term survival).
The 11-day festival will activate Bangkok's most iconic creative districts, inviting an estimated 400,000 visitors to witness how creativity revitalizes urban potential. This year, the city becomes a canvas across multiple key zones: Charoenkrung - Talat Noi, Phra Nakhon, Pak Khlong Talat, Bang Lamphu - Khaosan, and others.
BKKDW2026 will feature work from over 2,000 designers and businesses, ranging from experimental social impact projects to commercial collaborations that drive the economy. This massive scale reinforces Bangkok's status as a member of the UNESCO Creative City Network, proving that design is a powerful engine for both community development and international competitiveness.
Beyond the galleries, the festival serves as a critical growth engine for Thailand's creative industries. By connecting creators, entrepreneurs, and policymakers, BKKDW2026 generates significant economic momentum for downstream businesses, including hospitality, transportation, and local tourism. This year, the CEA calls upon everyone from dreamers to doers to participate in creating a city that leaves no one behind through practical, design-led solutions for a more resilient and prosperous future.
