Thailand will host the opening round of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship from 27 February to 1 March at Chang International Circuit, Buriram. Selected as the season opener for the second consecutive year, Thailand continues to reinforce its position as a leading destination for international motorsport and high-value travel.
In the 2026 season, Thailand will stage the PT Grand Prix of Thailand 2026 in Buriram for the seventh year, with the Thailand MotoGP underscoring the country’s broader sports tourism strategy. TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool noted that the event is a major global platform that not only showcases Thailand’s positive image but also attracts high-quality visitors, particularly motorsport enthusiasts who often travel in groups and extend their journeys to other parts of the country.
The World Championship programme in Buriram will feature three racing classes: MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3. Fans can expect a full calendar of fan and family-friendly experiences, including Rider Meet-and-Greet sessions, live entertainment at Chang Music Connection, interactive spectator zones, and curated activities highlighting Thai culture and regional identity. These elements are designed to deliver a comprehensive experience for race fans of all ages.
Visitors will also be encouraged to experience Thailand more deeply through the “5 Must Do in Thailand” concept: Must Taste, Thai cuisine and local Buriram dishes; Must Try, sports and cultural activities alongside world-class competition; Must Buy, local community handicrafts and Thai souvenirs; Must Seek, new experiences through sports tourism and community lifestyles; and Must See, tourist attractions, Thai culture, and the unique MotoGP atmosphere.
The MotoGP class, under the banner of the PT Grand Prix of Thailand 2026, is projected to attract more than 220,000 spectators and generate at least five billion baht (approximately US$160 million) in tourism-related revenue. With live broadcasts reaching audiences in over 200 countries worldwide, the event continues to position Thailand as a trusted, capable, and distinctive host of world-class sporting events.
