Prime Minister Anutin Opens MotoGP 2026 in Buri Ram, Boosting Thailand’s Motorsport Hub Vision

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the opening of the MotoGP World Championship “PT Grand Prix of Thailand 2026” at Buriram International Circuit in Mueang District, Buri Ram Province, reaffirming Thailand’s ambition to become a regional motorsport hub. The event is expected to generate at least 5 billion baht in economic value over the race weekend and to encourage tourists to visit nearby provinces, as well.

Thailand is hosting the season-opening race for the second consecutive year, marking its seventh time organizing the MotoGP since 2018. The event, held from 27 February to 1 March 2026, is attracting strong global interest and helping stimulate tourism and the local economy, including “One Tambon, One Product,” (OTOP) businesses participating in this event.

MotoGP is a major global sporting event that draws high-spending international visitors and makes Thailand better known worldwide, with broadcasts reaching an estimated 700–800 million households. From 2018 to 2025, MotoGP events in Thailand generated approximately 24 billion baht in economic value and attracted over 1.2 million spectators.
