Airports of Thailand (AOT) has provided an update on conditions caused by the unrest in the Middle East resulting from the clash involving Iran, Israel, and the United States on the first two days, 28 February – 1 March 2026. The six airports under AOT’s supervision—Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Mae Fah Luang – Chiang Rai, Phuket, and Hat Yai—have been closely monitoring developments. During the two-day period, a total of 134 flights were affected.
Assessments indicated several flight cancellations by Middle East carriers and airlines operating routes to or via the region, such as El Al Israel, Air Arabia, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad, Gulf Air, World2fly, and Thai Air Asia X. The breakdown of canceled flights is as follows:
- Suvarnabhumi: 59 flights;
- Don Mueang: 2 flights;
- Chiang Mai: 2 flights;
- Phuket: 36 flights.
Some passengers whose itineraries included Middle East transit points have been rebooked onto alternative flights that were not affected.
AOT confirms that all six airports continue to operate as normal and there are no stranded passengers overall. As for cancelled flights, AOT has implemented measures to ensure appropriate passenger support and to minimize disruption. These measures include deploying personnel to provide information and assistance, supplying drinking water, and arranging additional seating areas, resulting in no remaining passengers on airport premises.
AOT will continue to closely monitor the situation and coordinate with airlines, prioritizing passenger safety and flight operations, and remains prepared to adjust airport management measures for the changing situation.
Passengers travelling to the Middle East or related routes are advised to check their flight status directly with the airlines prior to departure and to follow updates through airline communication channels or the Facebook page: “AOT Official.” For further information, passengers may contact the AOT Contact Center at 1722, available 24 hours a day.
