The 1st Group of Thai Evacuees from Iran Arrived in Turkey

On the evening of 7 March 2026, 18.40 hrs local time, officials at the Kapıköy border checkpoint facilitated the arrival of a delegation from the Department of Consular Affairs, led by Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Deputy Director-General together with representatives from the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, led by Ms. Phanchita Rommayanont, Chargé d’Affaires. The delegation received the first group of Thai nationals, totaling 62 persons, led by Ms. Shayanid Prasertpol, Counselor at the Royal Thai Embassy in Tehran, who had safely departed Iran via the Razi border crossing and entered Türkiye through the Kapıköy checkpoint.

The Operations Center has arranged accommodation, meals, relief kits, and other essential supplies for the Thai nationals who have evacuated from Iran during their temporary stay in Van, while they await onward travel to Thailand on 8 and 9 March 2026.

The evacuation of Thai nationals from Iran has been carried out in accordance with the policy of the Royal Thai Government to assist Thai nationals in the Middle East who are affected by the ongoing conflict to leave the high-risk areas immediately and safely.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its appreciation to both Iranian and the Turkish authorities for facilitating the evacuation of Thai nationals. Thai nationals residing in the Middle East are advised to closely follow news and announcements from Royal Thai Embassies and Consulates-General.
