Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas, along with executives from the Ministry of Finance, welcomed Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and her delegation during their visit to observe Thailand’s preparations for hosting the IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings 2026, scheduled to take place in Bangkok in October 2026.
During their visit, the delegation explored several cultural and historical landmarks in Bangkok. The program began with a boat tour along the Chao Phraya River, offering views of the vibrant riverside landscape before continuing to the historic Bang Lamphu district.
The visit started at Phra Athit Pier, passing Santichaiprakan Park, and continued to the Bang Lamphu Museum. Managed by the Treasury Department of the Ministry of Finance, the museum serves as a key learning center on the history and culture of the Bang Lamphu community. Through modern exhibitions, it presents the story of the area—highlighting its heritage, local way of life, and the charm of seven historic communities that reflect Bangkok’s cultural diversity.
The visit highlighted Thailand’s readiness not only to host a global-level conference, but also to present the nation’s cultural identity and historic communities to a global audience, reinforcing its reputation as a welcoming destination for international events.
