Thailand Confirms Adequate Oil Reserves and Domestic Product Supply; Reports 1 Thai Fatality in Israel and 1,173 Evacuated Nationals
Mr. Panidond Pachimsawat, Acting Director-General of the Department of Information and Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, provided an update on the ongoing situation in the Middle East. He noted that tensions have escalated, with attacks targeting not only military sites but also energy infrastructure, potentially affecting the global economy and oil prices.
Regarding Thai nationals, one Thai farmer in Israel was reported deceased on 18 March 2026. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has contacted the bereaved family and is providing necessary assistance.
The Thai Government reaffirmed its commitment to evacuating Thai nationals from affected areas. As of today, a total of 1,173 individuals have been evacuated.
Mr. Wutthitat Tantivess, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Energy Business, stated that Thailand currently holds 7,396 million liters of oil reserves, sufficient for approximately 100 days. The Ministry of Energy has coordinated with relevant agencies to ensure nationwide distribution to service stations and is promoting the use of biodiesel and gasohol for domestic consumption.
Mr. Nantapong Chiralerspong, Director-General of the Trade Policy and Strategy Office and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce, stated that the Ministry affirms that domestic products remain sufficient for consumption. The Ministry is also closely monitoring product prices and the cost of living amid global volatility. Provincial offices have been instructed to prevent unjustified price increases. It is also working with relevant agencies to prevent sales refusals and to maintain a proper balance between supply and demand.
