Thailand's Department of Agriculture is enforcing strict quality control measures this durian season — because when it comes to Thai fruit, reputation matters.
The "4 No's" policy is now in full effect for all fresh durian exports:
No underripe fruit
No pest contamination
No identity fraud
No artificial coloring or chemical additives (including the banned substance Basic Yellow 2)
Violators will face strict penalties with no exceptions.
To back this up, 14 laboratories registered with the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) are now operational to handle export inspections, with continuous monitoring for chemical and cadmium contamination. Full traceability is enforced from Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)-certified farms all the way through Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)-certified packing houses.
This season, Thai fruits are projected to generate over THB 150 billion (approximately USD 4.64 billion) in export value — a testament to the trust that buyers around the world place in Thai produce.
Thailand is commitment to its farmers, its fruit, and its market around the world.
