Update on the 3 Missing Thai Crew Members — Motor Vessel "Mayuree Naree"
Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to pursue every avenue to locate three Thai crew members missing since the Thai-flagged cargo vessel Mayuree Naree was struck while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on 11 March 2026.
The Foreign Minister has held phone calls with his counterparts in Oman and Iran, summoned the Iranian Ambassador to Thailand, and issued formal correspondence requesting assistance. Most recently, ship owner Precious Shipping confirmed that a specialist search and rescue team has boarded the vessel. Despite a thorough search, the team was unable to locate the three crew members due to fire damage, lingering smoke, and flooding in the engine room. Families have been notified.
Thailand calls on all parties to return to diplomatic dialogue as soon as possible, prioritizing civilian safety and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Energy Update — Reserve Oil Release & B20 Diesel Promotion
As of 28 March, 120 million liters of strategic oil reserves have been released to ease the burden on consumers.
Diesel sales currently stand at 87.5 million liters — above the March average of 83 million liters — while gasoline sales have stabilized at 32–33 million liters, returning closer to January averages.
On the B20 biodiesel initiative: B20 (a blend of 80% base diesel and 20% palm-based biodiesel) is now available at THB 5 (US$ ~0.15) per liter cheaper than B7, thanks to tax exemptions and fuel fund subsidies.
The fishing sector has already shown strong interest. Note that B20 will not be sold at public fuel stations due to engine compatibility concerns — it will be available for bulk purchase through oil depots for targeted groups only.
