As the PM2.5 situation in Northern Thailand continues to worsen and affect people's health, the Prime Minister has made people's well-being the top priority, ordering governors across 17 Northern provinces to step up relief measures in all aspects.
To cope with the forest fire and burning situation, the government has mobilized forest fire extinguishing operations, which include the utilization of aircraft and drones in risky and inaccessible areas. Efforts also aim to raise community awareness and reduce burning by activating Cell Broadcast alerts at the international level, fostering cross-border cooperation across the Mekong region through the "Hotline Clear Sky" channel to decrease burning hotspots, while continuing to promote public health protection guidance.
In addition, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Suchart Chomklin has visited Chiang Mai province to oversee the burning situation and facilitate aerial firefighting operations and royal rainmaking.
