Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul held a phone call with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung. Both leaders emphasized the importance of the bilateral strategic partnership and discussed several areas of cooperation, including:
∙ Advancing negotiations on the Thailand–Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which will support trade and investment and help both countries navigate global supply chain challenges;
∙ Expanding cooperation in combating online crime through training and the use of advanced technology to improve prevention and enforcement capabilities; and
∙ Fostering creative industries — particularly tourism, film, and entertainment — as people-to-people ties between the two nations continue to grow.
The Thai Prime Minister also expressed Thailand's support for peace efforts on the Korean Peninsula. He extended an invitation to President Lee to visit Thailand and to attend the ASEAN Summit, to be held this November. It is an occasion that would present a significant opportunity for signing the CEPA and further strengthening ties and cooperation between both countries.
