Thailand has been ranked the No.1 global destination for April 2026 by Big 7 Travel, highlighting the growing international appeal of the country’s Songkran Festival.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Songkran 2026 has attracted at least 6.5 million participants nationwide, including both Thai and international visitors. The festival is expected to generate about 30 billion baht in economic value.
Minister of Culture Sabeeda Thaised said that the festival reflects the strength of Thailand’s cultural identity and assets, offering a unique experience that brings people together through tradition, warmth, and shared celebration.
The global influence of Thailand’s “soft power” was also evident this year, as Nike introduced a special edition, known as the Nike SB Dunk Low “Som Tum,” inspired by Thailand’s iconic papaya salad, showcasing Thai culture through contemporary fashion design.
Although the highlights of this holiday period have ended, Songkran celebrations continue in several provinces across the country, offering both traditional and modern cultural experiences for visitors.
The Government reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Thailand’s cultural heritage as a key driver for tourism, the creative economy, and the country’s global image.
