Thai Cassava Wins Strong Demand in Chongqing, Secures Over US$63 Million in Orders

Thailand’s Department of Foreign Trade has announced strong results from a cassava business matching event held in Chongqing, China recently, generating expected purchase orders worth US$63.25 million (approximately THB2.09 billion) within one year.

The event brought together 22 Thai exporters and 34 Chinese importers, resulting in 163 business matches. Products included cassava starch, chips, and pellets, serving industries such as food processing, animal feed, and logistics.

Officials noted that the strong results highlight growing opportunities for Thai cassava in western China, a rapidly expanding market driven by urban growth, rising industrial demand, and improved logistics connectivity. China remains Thailand's largest export market for cassava products.

Thai delegates also toured Chongqing's major inland logistics hub, a key gateway connecting western China with ASEAN, Central Asia, and Europe, gaining insight into how improved connectivity can boost market access and competitiveness for Thai exports.

Thai cassava continues to strengthen its footprint in one of the world's fastest-growing markets.
