Thai DPM and FM Strengthens Ties at the 25th ASEAN-European Union Ministerial Meeting

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow represented Thailand at the 25th ASEAN-European Union Ministerial Meeting (AEMM), held in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.

The meeting brought together ASEAN and EU counterparts to advance cooperation under the ASEAN-EU Strategic Partnership and exchange views on pressing regional and global issues, including:
• Upholding a rules-based international order in a rapidly changing world;
• Strengthening the relevance of ASEAN and the EU as major regional blocs;
• Responding to current and emerging challenges effectively;
• Fast-tracking negotiations toward an ASEAN-EU Free Trade Agreement;
• Accelerating the shift to renewable energy and combating transnational crimes, especially online scams.

The Meeting also adopted a Joint Ministerial Statement of the 25th AEMM, highlighting the shared commitment to strengthening ASEAN-EU cooperation and preparing for the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of ASEAN–EU Dialogue Relations in 2027.

On the sidelines, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs held bilateral meetings with Foreign Ministers and high-level representatives from the EU, Cambodia, the Philippines, Singapore, Viet Nam, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Poland, and Cyprus.

Thailand continues to strengthen its voice and partnerships on the global stage.
