Thailand is fast-tracking major airport expansion projects and rolling out advanced AI-powered safety technologies as part of the government's "Quick-Win" policy — all aimed at modernizing the country's aviation infrastructure and cementing its position as a regional aviation hub.

During a visit to Airports of Thailand (AOT) headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn directed the airport operator to fast-track key projects, including:

• Expansion works at Suvarnabhumi Airport

• Development plans for regional airports across the country

•Adoption of smart technologies to improve passenger services and operational efficiency

On the safety front, AOT is also stepping up its game:

• AI-powered anti-drone systems are being deployed to detect and respond to airborne threats

• Advanced wildlife monitoring technologies are being introduced to reduce bird strike risks and strengthen airport security in line with international standards

The upgrades are designed to enhance the passenger experience, boost airport capacity, and attract more global travelers. This will support Thailand's long-term economic growth through world-class aviation services. With combined capacity across AOT's six airports targeted to exceed 180 million passengers annually by 2034, Thailand is making a clear statement about its aviation ambitions.
