At the plenary session of the 48th ASEAN Summit in the Philippines, the Thai Prime Minister delivered a statement under the theme "Navigating Our Future, Together," outlining three approaches to strengthen ASEAN's regional unity amid the Middle East crisis.

1) Energy Security

ASEAN should accelerate practical energy cooperation, including the ASEAN Power Grid, the ASEAN Petroleum Security Agreement, and increased investment in renewable energy projects.

2) Food Security

Existing food security frameworks should be broadened beyond rice trade to cover other essential food products, strengthening regional preparedness. As one of the world's major food producers, Thailand stands ready to fully support ASEAN's food security efforts.

3) People Protection

ASEAN's ultimate goal is to protect and care for its people. Thailand’s Prime Minister pointed to his personal coordination of the evacuation of Thai nationals from high-risk areas during the Middle East crisis as a testament to the value of ASEAN solidarity in times of difficulty.

As current challenges are increasingly interconnected—spanning energy, food, and human security— ASEAN must deepen its community-building efforts to keep pace with an ever-changing world.
