Thailand to Showcase Films, Talent, and Creative Industry at the 79th Cannes Film Festival

Thailand is set to participate in the 79th Cannes Film Festival from 12 to 23 May 2026 in Cannes, France, highlighting the country’s growing creative industry, under the “Content Thailand” initiative.

Led by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with other relevant agencies, the country will host the Thailand Pavilion and organize activities including filmmaker talks, project pitching sessions, business networking, and showcases for Thai films and digital content creators.

Thai films “9 Temples to Heaven” and “What Do You Seek in the Dark?” have been selected for the Directors’ Fortnight and Critics’ Week sections, marking a significant step for the Thai film industry on the international stage.

Thai artist “BamBam” will also join this festival as a representative of Thai cinema and as an actor in the upcoming horror film “The Confession of Shaman,” participating in red carpet events and activities at the Thailand Pavilion.

In addition, Thailand announced a new incentive measure offering up to 20% cash rebates for foreign companies hiring Thai digital content producers in such areas as animation, visual effects, gaming, and post-production, aiming to strengthen Thailand’s position as a regional creative hub.

The Government believes that participation in the Cannes Film Festival will emphasize Thailand’s continued efforts to promote Thai films, creative talent, and entertainment businesses to global audiences while expanding the country’s international partnerships and investment opportunities.
