At the 21st Asia Media Summit in the Maldives, media leaders and broadcasters from across the Asia-Pacific came together to shape the future of media in the AI era. And Thailand was front and center.
Director-General of Thailand’s Government Public Relations Department (PRD) Sudruetai Lertkasem, in her capacity as elected President of the AIBD General Conference, closed the summit with a clear message: governments and media organizations must ensure AI is used transparently, ethically, and in ways the public can trust.
A key outcome was the development of an "AI Declaration,” a regional commitment to ethical standards and responsible content creation as AI reshapes how news is made and how audiences experience it.
On the sidelines of the Asia Media Summit 2026, the PRD Director-General held bilateral discussions with Public Service Media of the Maldives and Russia Today (RT). Two standout areas of cooperation included joint documentary production to bring Thai stories to international audiences, and AI and new media training to equip media professionals for the road ahead.
Thailand’s participation at AMS 2026 reinforced the country’s growing role in regional media cooperation and reflected PRD’s commitment to strengthening Thai public media capabilities amid rapid technological transformation.
