Thailand’s Tourist Police Step Up Operations in Pattaya

Thailand's Tourist Police recently held a major meeting with embassy and consulate representatives, as well as foreign volunteer networks in Pattaya, Chonburi. Authorities are ramping up efforts to tackle:
• Nominee business arrangements (foreigners illegally operating businesses through Thai fronts)
• Online scam networks
• Overstaying visas
• Transnational crime & drug networks
• Driving without a valid license

Tourist Police Deputy Commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Phongsiam Meekhanthong confirmed that proactive measures are now in place, with stronger intelligence-sharing between Thai authorities and foreign missions to protect both tourists and Thailand's reputation as a safe destination.

A reminder to all foreigners in Thailand:
• Always carry a valid driver's license recognized in Thailand
• Respect traffic laws — violations are a leading cause of accidents in tourist areas
• Make sure your visa status is up to date

If you see suspicious activity, you can report it to the Tourist Police at 1155 (available 24/7 in multiple languages).
