Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met with representatives of Thai private-sector companies in France, including Thai Union Europe Co. Ltd., Indorama Ventures Co. Ltd., and Mud and Hound Co. Ltd. The meeting covered opportunities and challenges for Thai entrepreneurs doing business in Europe, as well as ways to strengthen Thailand–France economic cooperation.
The discussion identified two key approaches:
1. Accelerating the conclusion of the Thailand–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The agreement is expected to reduce import tariffs on Thai exports to Europe from as high as 24% to 0%, while creating broader access to the European market; and
2. Promoting Thai brands and franchises, particularly those of Thai-owned food businesses, in the European market through Thailand's EXIM Bank. The initiative will also help promote Thai ingredients and Thai cultural identity.
Furthermore, the Thai Government will continue to support Thai food franchises by coordinating with the EXIM Bank to develop business promotion standards.
